This week in social skills, we began implementing our new behavior token system. After a game of dominos and discussion of weekend activities, we began our lesson by reviewing our classroom rules. We began watching a video “How Full is Your Bucket?” and learned about how everyone has a “bucket” that fills up when things make us and others “happy” and empties when we create negative feelings in ourselves or others. Each student picked out a bucket and competed to see who could earn the most “happy faces” by following the rules. DL and MB were very excited to see who could earn the most “happy faces” and worked hard to show they were following the rules. During story time, we read Clark the Shark. Clark had difficulty following the rules and staying in green zone. MB was able to point out how he “changed his behavior” to make his friends and teacher feel more happy. Next week we will continue learning about “Bucket Filling” and apply it to our March unit of respecting personal space.
